Porto’s Bakery & Cafe

Until recently, I have only had Porto’s baked goods.  I suggested that my girlfriends meet for dinner at Porto’s so that I could finally try their other offerings.  I must say,  I wasn’t disappointed.  I ordered the Dinner Plate.

Rice, black beans, ripened and golden fried plantain slices (maduros), grilled onions, and choice of chicken, steak, shredded beef (ropa vieja), or shredded pork (lechon).  I ordered the steak.  It was so good!!! Tender and perfectly seasoned.  I can’t wait to try their sandwiches.  I have my eye on the Pan con bistec and the Cubano Sandwich.

I must also share my lust for the Mango Mousse.  I normally don’t like dessert because I can’t handle foods that are overly sweet.  This is one of my favorite desserts of all time.  It is so light that it melts in your mouth.  After you eat it, you don’t go into sugar shock and you want more.  I’m sad that I only bought one 😦

In heaven, I think the clouds will be made of this.  Oh, and I can’t forget to mention my other favorite: guava cheese pastries!!
