Chocolate Banana Green Smoothie

We’ve been nice to our bodies lately, drinking all these fruits and greens.  It’s time for a chocolately treat!

Upon the suggestion of a friend, I decided to combine chocolate and spinach in a smoothie. Spinach is a great “gateway green.” Unlike kale, you can hardly taste it when blended into a flavorful beverage. I gave my dad a sample of this particular recipe and he had no idea that there was spinach in the mixture!  The chocolate masks any trace of greens.

1.5 cups of Chocolate Silk Soymilk

1.5 cups fresh spinach

1 semi-ripe bananas (frozen)

Start the vita-mix/blender on variable.  Slowly turn the dial up to 10 and then flip it to high for 30 seconds.

Again, the color is not the most appetizing.  Therefore, I suggest putting it in an opaque cup to conceal the fact that it has spinach in it.  Go on…feed this to someone who has a phobia of green foods and chuckle to yourself, knowing that you’re filling them with vitamin A & K.  If you want, you can even add some chocolate chips, slivered almonds or shredded coconut during the last few seconds of blending to give it more texture.

    Have you ever tried dark chocolate ALMOND milk? I think it tastes even better than the soy one!
